Epoxy coatings in garages are just one of the many services we offer here at Professional Polishing and Resurfacing. Whether you’re a builder doing a renovation looking for a new look to refresh an old slab, a custom home builder looking to add a finishing touch to a beautiful home, or a homeowner looking to do the same, flake garage coatings are a great option.
This whole home renovation wanted to take their garage to the next level and chose to have us complete a flake broadcast coating throughout the garage including the stem walls, landing, and stairs. Anytime we do a coating we make sure the customer is aware of all of their color options and provide in person samples of the flake to make sure the customer is fully satisfied with the color they have chosen. There are hundreds of pre blended options and we also offer the ability to make a custom color blend to give you a truly unique floor.
We begin the process by fully prepping the area to protect all your finishes inside and outside the garage. Creating a proper concrete surface profile is the first, and arguably most important, step when applying this finish to your slab. We achieve this profile through shot blasting the concrete to achieve a CSP 3 or better. This ensures we achieve a great mechanical bond between the epoxy and your concrete ensuring your coating will truly last. After shot blasting and cleaning the surface thoroughly we apply a Moisture Vapor Barrier coat. This coat is a necessary step as it keeps the coating from delaminating due to moisture push through the slab due to groundwater swell or a damaged or degrading moisture vapor barrier under the slab. We then apply two separate vinyl flake broadcast coats into the epoxy. This ensured consistency, total coverage and boosts the floor’s durability. This customer chose to go with the Cool Mist flake color. We finish the process by applying a fully chemically resistant Polyaspartic topcoat. This step means you wont need to worry about oil, mag chloride, salt, or any other contamination damaging the finished floor. What you’re left with is a highly durable, chemically resistant, and beautifully transformed space that will last.
